Brandon "B Silent" Hicks is an independent multi-instrumentalist/multi-genre producer from South Jersey, outside of Philly.  The "B Silent" sound blends the analog nostalgic vibes of the 70's and 80's while still taking inspiration from today's Hip Hop, Jazz, Soul, and Rock.

 

B SILENT first started making beats in his senior year at college after being inspired by acid jazz/electronica artists such as Jazzanova, 4 hero, Zero 7 & Cinematic Orchestra. He started releasing unofficial tracks featuring mashups of artists like Eminem & David Bowie, Paul Simon & Outkast, and Mobb Deep & Jamiroquai. Then he started collaborating with his brother Bryant "Phantom" (keyboards/vocals) creating and performing original abstract jazz pieces with Brandon on the guitar. Soon after he linked up with a few other local musicians and vocalists to form a hip hop and rock band that performed all over the Philadelphia music scene. After the band went their separate ways, Brandon began to focus back on production and crafting his "B Silent" sound still working with some vocalists and musicians he previously met and released various songs either on their projects or his own. 

 

B Silent recently released his debut 9 song album entitled "The Abtract Soul" which features collaborations with singers from the Philly area as well as an international vocalist from the Philippines. 

 

Brandon continues to be influenced by artists like Jamiroquai, N.E.R.D, Bonobo, The Police, Radiohead, & Kanye; but still embraces the current and upcoming artists in today's new music scene.
